Brownswood Recordings (Record label)
Brownswood Recordings is a London-based record label, founded in 2006 by DJ and radio personality Gilles Peterson. Brownswood is already Peterson’s third record label. In 1988 he founded the label Acid Jazz Records with Eddie Piller. Bands like Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies and Corduroy were signed to it. Afterwards Peterson worked with artist including 4Hero, MJ Cole, Roni Size’ Reprazent, Galliano and The Roots on his second label called Talkin’ Loud, which became one of the most influential record labels of the late 1990s. Finally, in 2006, Peterson founded Brownswood Recordings, named after a street in the North London. He finally managed it to bring together all the different styles on one label and releases records from many different groove-based genres of popular music through Brownswood Recordings.

One abandoned piano, some Dim Sum and a half-marathon later
Ghostpoet’s back and though he’s still mumbling on his tracks in a style that has become his own his intentions are clearer: delivering content about himself in any perspective possible, relatable to all. For this album Ghostpoet headed to a studio with a producer. This has made Some Say I So I Say Light musically more experimental without losing the signature introverted and lonely atmosphere thanks to an abandoned East London piano.

Live on September 6th at Bi Nuu in Berlin
The British MC Ghostpoet was in the capital for Berlin’s Music Week for three performances. In the venue Bi Nuu the enigmatic MC delivered an intense and unexpected performance for those used to his more mellow raps. With an undeniable skill for live performance and a communal bottle of red wine Ghostpoet carried audience through a cathartic live set and thus skillfully transformed his low-key album into an energetic show.
