Bebop (Music subgenre)
Bebop is a subgenre des jazz that emerged in 1940. It emphasizes fast tempi, rhythmic freedom for drums and bass and relies an complex harmony schemes and extended improvisation phases. The big band is replaced by the combo. The subgenre is considered to be the origin of modern jazz. Prominent representatives of this style were Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker.
