Duck Down Records (Record label)
Duck Down Records is a New York-based record label for hip hop music, founded in 1995 by Kenyatta »Buckshot« Blake and Drew »Dru-Ha« Friedman. The Independent label is focused on Hip Hop and after 16 years it includes artists like KRS-One, Cypress Hill, Heltah Skeltah and Pharoahe Monch. Despite the New York roots, it has been one of the labels, which were repected by the »other camp« at times of the East Coast/West Coast conflict. This respect went so far, that they even recorded the unreleased album »One Nation« with Tupac. 2011 Duck Down Music 3D was founded, a music marketing company with an own distribution, specialized in the indie szene.

A new Chapter
Talib Kweli has never taken so much time for a single album as he has with »Prisoner of Conscious«. His requirement to himself was to create something that would function beyond the world of Hip Hop, something that would break the boundaries of genres – the genres he himself feels trapped in. This mission took the 37 year-old MC to different countries and had him collaborate with old acquaintances as well as with new artists. The result is an exceptionally personal album.
