Bim Sherman – Ghetto Dub

A reggae summit between Jamaica and England: Bim Sherman produced Ghetto Dub single-handedly in 1988, with mixing support from King Tubby, Prince Jammy and Adrian Sherwood. Heavy, lavishly layered with reverb and echo, the tracks play with space, weight and madness – take ‘Station Dub’, for instance, with its doorbell-like sound. Sherman’s vocals are but a fleeting presence; what matters here is how dub becomes an open-ended experimental framework.
