Boards Of Canada – Inferno

With Inferno, Boards of Canada once again open the gates to a shattered past and a future that never came to pass. Using fading synthesisers, distorted vocal samples and dark beats, Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin construct a Technicolour nostalgia through which the ghosts of what has vanished shine through. On their fifth album, Boards of Canada grapple with the passage of time: it has never sounded so apocalyptically magnificent and magnificently apocalyptic.
