The name is not at all flirtatious: DJs Marfox, N.K., Jesse, Pausas, Fofuxo and Nervoso hail from the suburbs of Lisbon, home to the descendants of immigrants from Portugal’s former colonies. In 2006, with the compilation »Djs Do Guetto Vol. 1«, they laid the foundations for a music that combines African roots and modern electronics. 13 of the 37 tracks are now available on vinyl—and they sound just as exciting as they did then.
