The Finnish DJ, producer and label owner (Kuje Records) will play a two-hour vinyl set at the HHV Store on Grünberger Strasse in Berlin-Friedrichshain on May 23, 2025. Between 7 pm and 9 pm, Carmen Electro will not only let her record collection speak for itself, but also celebrate her close connection to the medium – and to the city in which she found her artistic voice.
Carmen Electro, who describes herself in the interview below as a “total subculture enthusiast“, came to DJing through record collecting and learned the craft directly from vinyl. Her love for the format began in Berlin, where she was infected by the raw energy of the scene after her first club nights in London. For her, vinyl is a tool for self-exploration: challenging, imperfect, but full of depth.
»I think vinyl’s future is bright because yeah it’s just this very authentic hands-on experience which we need instead of just our screens«.
Carmen Electro
Her sets, usually a mix of techno, trance and house, are characterized by emotional complexity and a deep sense of community. The fact that she has dedicated herself to the analog medium is not a stylistic device, but an attitude. Anyone who wants to see this for themselves has the opportunity to do so: Admission is free, as are the drinks.
