Krazy Baldhead
The Noise In the Sky
Ed Banger, 2012
Text Martin Silbermann
, Translation Julia Frohn
The crazy bald guy has always been an outcast within the Ed Banger-crew, because he has never been geared to the typical label sound. As we know, it normally works with intense stimulus satiation, a sheer madness for party and all the guilty pleasures belonging to it. Instead of just lining up one knock-out-banger after the other, Krazy Baldhead had composed a four-part electronic symphony on his debut album, »The B-Suite« – ten years at the conservatory should at least be made worthwhile. And even though his new album, »The Noise In The Sky« is not quite as classical and academical, due to its jazz- and Hip Hip-influences, it’s still far, far away from the uniformed mash called dance. The man from France also can’t quite hide his label-roots (otherwise he’d have to do without all the bratz-basses), but he uses the Ed-Banger-signature-basses neither formalistically nor as a pointless razzle-dazzle. In addition, Krazy Baldhead also comes with a full arsenal of further musical ideas and effects, which he – in a somewhat controlled manner – shoots at his listeners. The fact that this music could have also been released on Ninja Tunes or Warp only proves that the genre-name »Intelligent Dance Music« does not offer enough room for differentiation, anymore.
