Minimal Wave is a subgenre of New Wave and refers to minimalist synthesiser music that emerged primarily in the early 1980s. It is characterised by stripped-back arrangements, drum machines, analogue synthesizers, a cool sonic aesthetic, and often obscure releases from DIY and underground scenes.
