Modern Soul

Modern soul is a subgenre of soul that emerged in the late 1970s as a stylistically distinct movement from classic 60s soul. It is characterized by danceable grooves, a stronger focus on rhythm, and an often synthetic sound with influences from funk, disco, and occasionally AOR. The term »modern« is meant in a historical sense – many tracks are now considered rare groove favorites, but structurally they can clearly be classified as soul.
