On September 5, 2025, the first event in the new Tropical Birds series will take place at the Knust in Hamburg . Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, Peki Momés and the Cumbia im Viertel Crew will be on stage to kick things off. The event brings together different forms of tropical music – with a focus on groove, global funk and danceable rhythms.

Cumbia and Steel
The Hamburg-based Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band combines Caribbean steel pan sounds with funk, soul and hip-hop – they are known for their cover version of 50 Cent’s »P.I.M.P.«. Turkish artist Peki Momés brings a visceral, psychedelic-colored version of global groove music to the stage. The lineup will be completed by the Cumbia im Viertel Crew, who will provide a club-ready party night with a mix of classic cumbia and tropical bass.
