McKinley Dixon, the American rapper, is releasing a new album. »Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!« will be out on June 2, 2023 via City Slang. It will be available exclusively on HHV Records in a limited coloured vinyl edition.

McKinley Dixon describes himself as a »musical time traveller« who updates the roots of rap in the present. »Jazz and hip-hop combine to create an organic sound,« Stefan Mertlik wrote about his 2021 album »For My Mama And Anyone Who Look Like Her«. McKinley Dixon maintains this mix on his fourth studio record. First singles like »Sun, I Rise« or »Run, Run, Run« sound as if Kendrick Lamar and Kamasi Washington had run into each other in the studio.

An Album as a Lyricist’s Lounge

The title »Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?« is a tribute to the world-famous trilogy of novels by Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison, whom McKinley Dixon has called »the greatest rapper ever«. The album features other writers as well, such as Hanif Abdurraqib, Teller Bank$, Alfred, Ghais Guevara, Anjimile and Seline Haze.
