Superorganism spread super optimism again with their second album four years after their lively debut. The eight-piece collective from East London are due to release World Wide Pop on July 15 on Domino Records. The album will only be available from HHV Records (and the Domino webshop) in an Earth Splattered Vinyl Edition.
Slightly over-the-top indie pop
Their collage-like, ever-so-slightly over-the-top indie pop somewhere between The Avalanches and The Go! Team is just as rich in ideas as it is in detail, and singer Orono Noguchi’s laconic lyrics are full of dry humour. No wonder that Noguchi already named Pavement one of the most important sources of inspiration in 2018.
Two songs with Stephen Malkmus
Having Stephen Malkmus on board for two new songs must have been a dream come true for her in particular. Other international collaborators include Chai, Pi Ja Ma, Dylan Cartlidge and Gen Hoshino, who share a belief in the power of pop music and help Superorganism spread hope and, indeed, optimism. The first single, Teenager, certainly puts you in a good mood.
