Blue Daisy x Unknown Shapes

Bedtime Stories EP

Black Acre • 2012

They come from London’s undergrounds, their soundtrack is made of a heavy bass and remote whimpering: The man with the gas mask, Blue Daisy, unleashes Unknown Shapes, a collective of artists, designers and musicians, all managed by Blue Daisy. Blue Daisy once spread an apocalyptic sentiment with »The Sunday Gift«, Unknown Shapes have produced my favorite soundtrack for illegal demolition derbies on the town’s scrapyard with the »If I Should Die EP«. And this very team is trying to tell bed-time-stories? For whom? Maybe for manic-depressive clones, living a gray every-day life between sickroom and workshop?! For seemingly endless minutes, the »Bedtimes Stories EP« pushes you down with tumescent ghost-vocals and then starts kicking the hell out of you with a bass-stamper. Imagine, the world was inhabited by mechanic animals; you hear the tinny roaring of an elk, or a distorted chirping of a chickadee from the woods. They all live in panic because what’s left of their tiny woods is surrounded by a futuristic city, of which the gigantic machines and hammers make the forest floor tremble. The electric guitars are being distorted into an infinite vastness, it crackles and bangs in every corner, the synthz’ frequencies go wild in any given direction. No one is going to sleep to this music, no one is going to have sweet dreams from it – instead, it demolishes everything and leaves only steel and the crust of the earth. It’s music produced in a bunker while stoned.
