The Notwist

Magnificent Fall

Alien Transistor • 2025

After a two-year release hiatus, The Notwist return with Magnificent Fall – a compilation that is far more than a best-of spanning 35 years of band history. As a double LP, it achieves something remarkable: a condensation of the band’s many facets while standing as an artistically self-sufficient work on equal footing with their core releases.

This is largely because the collage is built to a significant extent from previously unreleased material, sound fragments and experiments that either never made it into the public sphere – or were never intended to. As listeners and long-time fans, we are offered not only an intimate acoustic insight into the band’s creative process over the decades, but also the chance to rediscover an archival sound that feels familiar without ever sounding stale – surprising in its freshness.

The compilation is complemented by three remixes from Grizzly Bear, Ada and Odd Nosdam, each adding an additional perspective and subtly extending the band’s universe without diluting its core.
