Jane Fitz And David Fogarty present: Mysterious Vastness

Transmigration • 2026

Mysterious Vastness is the latest compilation on Transmigration Records, through which Jane Fitz, in collaboration with label founder David Fogarty, offers a carefully selected insight into her musical rediscoveries from her home region of Essex. The release brings together ten tracks that had until now escaped the attention of the ever-active Discogs and digging community. They represent the reduced distillation of a fifteen-year journey undertaken by the DJ, who set herself the task of collecting records that seemed sonically unusual, at the very least, for the rough, industrially marked area around East London and Essex.

Timeless trance, electro, melodic progressive and acid house, as well as techno, all form part of the release, alongside a booklet in which Jane Fitz provides the compilation with a narrative frame and gives the producers behind the tracks an opportunity to speak about the origins of their records and their own musical development.

What gradually emerges from all of this is the picture of an environment in which young artists were navigating technical and spatial limitations, creating their musical worlds partly in their bedrooms, far from the larger studios and labels, before carrying them out from there to the turntables of the local scene.
