DFA Records

DFA Records is a New York-based record label, founded in 2001 by TIm Goldsworthy, James Murphy and Jonathan Galkin. DFA Records is regarded as one of the most influential record labels of the Noughties. Goldsworthy and Murphy met during the work on David Holmes’ Let’s Get Killed and soon began to organize parties on the Lower East Side. When Jonathan Galkin completed the trio, they founded DFA Records. The forst 12” got released: The Rapture’s House Of Jealouse Lovers and The Juan MacLean’s By The Way I Get To Venus. They found a gap between dance and guitar music that had to be filled. Their biggest success was the release of James Murphy’s own musical project: LCD Soundsystem.
