Doumen Records

Doumen Records is a record label which was founded in 2010 in Leipzig. “Publishing your own music, never sending out a demo again, never again justifying artistic decisions.” sums up Henrik Jacobsen (member of Praezisa Rapid 3000) the motivation behind the establishment of Doumen. In fact the record label (which in 2013 joined with the sub-label Van Doumen which focuses on remixes) stands for an equally unique and distinctive sound. While Praezisa Rapid 3000 winds itself through all sorts of cultures and genres, Simon 12345 & The Lazer Twins are in favour of Hip Hop and Ben Jakov presents his hynogogic sounds. A single record from the house of Doumen generally gathers together more style in comparison to the back catalogue of other labels. That might be due to the involvement of many other people in the decision making process, besides the trio Praezisa Rapid 3000. [We have a pretty loose allocation of responsibilities, therefore contents vary widely.” explains Jacobsen. They seem to be more united however in idealogical terms. Apart from the quality of his own releases, the collective especially know what they do not want: emulating the existing and elitist carryings-on. “We have more of an inclusive and friendly approach.” says Jacobsen. “I consider it obsolete to create myths behind closed doors, in order not to show that you also cook your soup with only water and celery.” It is only logical that Doumen does not act alone from it’s own den or from its extended acquaintances, but that it also researches for unknown acts. Who brings with them ‘depth, sympathy and independence’ stands a good chance to arouse the label’s interest. Even when the current motto ‘Very interesting, but I don’t care’ is written on the flag.
