Franco Battiato (1945-2021) was an Italian composer and style-defining crossover artist between avant-garde, synthpop and spiritual songwriting. Part of the electronic avant-garde in the 1970s, he became a pop phenomenon with »La Voce del Padrone« (1981). His music combines esoteric depth with catchy melancholy.
