Infinite Waves Records

Infinite Waves is a Danish record and tape label from Copenhagen founded in 2013 by Bjarke Rasmussen. Rasmussen is not a man of many words and prefers to take care of his label alone, which during the beginning of the business was helped out by the producer Metalized Man. A little bit of assistance can of course never hurt. »If it is possible, I try to involve the acts in the process. This can be anything: to put on a top show, the cover design and so on.« Otherwise, Rasmussen would have hardly been able to set up such an impressive amount of releases with Infinite Waves; In the first year alone he released 8 tapes, in 2014 it was already 22 – in various formats. »I think very individually about the releases or at least as a type of bundle, which always leads to quite different results.« That’s how the colourful juxtaposition of cassettes, vinyls in various formats and digital add-ons all appear, with their designs, to refer back to one another, some more than others. Musically, Infinite Waves is set up just as diverse, although or just because Rasmussen prefers to roam locally. »For me it makes most sense to work with acts from the local region. I prefer, to get to know the people. Additionally, organising shows is way simpler«, is the lapidary comment. The result is a bizarre mixture, which doesn’t seem to show any other interfaces other than Lo-Fi-Post-Punk, noisy-sweet Bedroom-pop, spherical Ambient or sometimes the sterile electronica-desire by Assembler. »The label reflects my personal taste«, says Rasmussen. »Hence the direction of the label thoroughly shifted and he hopes for this to continue in the same way. It has to evolve itself.« But these aren’t just words, it’s the philosophy of the label condensed down to one single point. In the end of the day this is why it’s called Infinite Waves; It moves periodically onwards into the future.
