Jungs aus der Schaft

Jungs aus der Schaft is a German record label from Berlin, which specialises in hip hop music. It was founded by Juraj Fortwängler, Georg Lewark and Sebastian Diaz de Leon in 2014. At the same time, the initials JGS stands for the initials of the three label founders. The responsibilities are divided out as follows: Juraj Fortwängler is bound to the production and graphics, Georg Lewark is answerable for the videos (under the Pseudonym ‘Apfel’ he is also active as a music producer) and Sebastian Diaz creates the artworks and everything else which comes under the headline ‘artistic’. The three Freiburgers already knew each other from their hometown. Their shared passion in music and their desire to establish their own label was a childhood dream, which ultimately, unified them. They first decided to tackle their hobby seriously when they moved to Berlin together into a flat share. The idea of Jungs aus der Schaft was to bring together musicians and other creative heads from the same society and to someday offer their creative output at a professional level. “The special thing is, is that we do everything ourselves at home. From the beats on the record, the mixing and mastering, up until the music videos, the graphics developmental process of the cover and even the print of merchandise; everything is created within the four walls of our home,” explains Georg Lewark aka Apfel. Before anything is released into the public, the entire group has to give the record its blessing and give it it’s ‘seal of quality’. The motto therefore is to complement each other in order to create an overall robust package. After music the boys second favourite subject is video production. It is all about experimenting with different formats and techniques and working with a great attention to detail. These efforts brought the label’s first collaborations with external musicians and companies, as well as their own youtube channel.
