Wax Poetics Records
Waxpoetics Records is a 2007 founded record label, specialized in soul, funk and jazz music from New York City. The label belongs to a bimonthly published magazine with the same name whose first issue has been published in december 2001. The cause was the find of unbelievable recordings from American military bands who imitated the funk and soul of their home country during their deployment in the former eastern bloc. These recordings found themselves again on the compilation album “East Of Underground”. The good knowledge in African-American culture, already flaunted by the publication of the magazine, was also the basis of the record label. Initially specializing in reissues, among them The Moments, Earl Zero, Melvyn Prize and The Lyman Woodard Organization, 2010 the program has been supplemented with emerging, contemporary artists like Adrian Younge, Chico Mann and Kendra Morris.
