beabadoobee releases her new album Pylon on 18 September via Dirty Hit. A limited Translucent Light Blue Vinyl Edition will be available exclusively from HHV Records. The follow-up to This Is How Tomorrow Moves (2024) brings together a number of prominent guests, including Hayley Williams, Brendan Yates (Turnstile), Evan Stephens Hall (Pinegrove), Chino Moreno (Deftones) as well as Matty Healy and George Daniel (The 1975).
Raw, tender, driving
After beabadoobee first became known for stripped-down bedroom-pop recordings and later established herself as a fixture in indie rock, on Pylon she brings together several currents: grunge, Midwest emo and 1990s alternative rock meet modern indie pop.
The lead single »Sun Has Set« condenses this direction – buzzing guitars, an increasingly driving arrangement and a chorus move between raw and tender moments, giving the song its dynamics. A great deal happens in this piece in a short space of time. It suggests how Pylon seeks to mediate between guitar pressure, pop melodies and alternative-rock history.
