Oddisee

Odd Seasons

Mello Music Group • 2011

On Odd Seasons, Oddisee leads us through the four seasons with 31 enormously diverse tracks. Doing that, it is astonishing how the producer and rapper from Washington, DC manages to transport the feeling and the atmosphere of every season. If you have look at the change from autumn to spring for example, you can hear bells, harps, the piano and strings. Oddisee brings us a blooming and unfolding musical piece sounding like the first days of spring. Sounds a little like Seasons from the long gone glorious days of RJD2. Using his versatile and unique production, the NY-based Oddisee who has already emceed on beats by Flying Lotus or Hudson Mohawke and produced tracks for Jazzy Jeff and De La Soul, aims for the circle of those artists who are being called revolutionaries or saviors by everyone these days. With Odd Seasons – an LP that basically consists of four EP’s that have been remastered – Oddisee meets those requirements without having any problems. On the mostly instrumental songs he combines an enormous amount of musical pieces creating an innovative and inimitable sound that never forgets about its roots in Hip Hop. A healthy seasoning for todays Hip Hop.
