Knowsum

Cherry Stone Pillow

Sugar Brain • 2026

Allow me to introduce Nelson Brandt. Early hip-hop underground, Mainz school and sample exotica as Nepumuk. But now, as Knowsum on Cherry Stone Pillow, he has taken off the mask. Or put on a much more beautiful one. One drunk on bossa nova chords and that beautifully sun-yellow-grounded easy-listening feeling one really only knows from films in which everyone dies at the end.

Yes, sure, they are all long ago. But Cherry Stone Pillow sways; the record is at least as blurred at the edges as the boundaries of a well-staged provocation at a hotel bar in Hollywood. There, late at night with plenty of sugar in one’s head, one would surely like to hear a sub-three-minute banger like »Let Me Show U the Stars«. Simply: a surreal fever dream. And precisely for that reason, one immediately wants to pre-order the limited vinyl. Not only in order to hear it – that too – but much rather to own it: as proof that it still exists, elegance amid the general chaos.
