With »Datsha«, Roman Poncet, also known as Traumer, takes a big step away from his core business, techno. Under the project name Amine Laje, he released an intimate, jazz-inspired trip-hop record on the Parisian label Rotary Phono Lab. The origins of Datsha date back to the COVID pandemic, when Poncet and friends fled to the French countryside. It was there that the artist embarked on a creative journey characterized not only by isolation, but also by an invitation from his friend Alex to compose the opening music for his planned restaurant, Datsha.
But what emerges has nothing to do with Poncet’s actual sound. In collaboration with other artists, he succeeds in creating a remarkable new musical development outside the club context in a completely unexpected way. The 15-track album, almost entirely without vocals, is wonderfully light, never cheap, but also never »jazzy« and exhausting – the perfect easy-listening album for warm summer evenings in the park or just to switch off on your own. With »Datsha« Roman Poncet delivers a must-have for all lovers of a tasteful fusion of jazz, trip-hop and electronica..
