Lowercase

*Lowercase refers to an extreme form of minimalist sound art that focuses on barely audible, everyday sounds – such as breathing, paper, or mechanical clicking. The recordings are often highly amplified and emphasize micro-sounds. As a genre term, lowercase* was coined by Steve Roden in 2001 and overlaps aesthetically with sound art, onkyō, and minimalist electroacoustics.
