Die Komponistin aus Leeds veröffentlichte 2022 ihr Debüt »Horizons« beim britischen Label Gondwana Records – was folgte, waren Lobeshymnen nicht nur von Jazzkennern.
The saxophone, fluffily played
Because Jasmine Myra combines jazz with an electronic substructure and modern compositions on the eight tracks. Accordingly, »Horizons« is characterised by its cinematic sound, although every melody drifts along easily, everything remains so casual and relaxed. The violin alone in »Words Left Unspoken« carries the listener into other worlds. And again and again the discreet saxophone of Myra. Seldom has anyone played this instrument so finely, so precisely and fluffily. What the artist and composer will show at her one and only show in Germany in April.
