Islandman will play a concert at Berlin’s Club Gretchen on October 22, 2023. Anyone who has heard of the three Turkish musicians knows: this will be something for the pelvic floor, hobby shamans and people who like to say Rare Groove. Islandman have finally tanked it, the groove. And with it they jet around the world in downtempo. To the Jazz Festival in Montreux, where they are awarded as best band. Or to the Boiler Room. To London and Innsbruck and Copenhagen and Berlin.

Der Weg ist weit. Und Islandman haben Dampf. Drei Alben auf Music For Dreams gaben bisher die Tripsitter für etwas, das verloren geglaubte Romantiker schon mal als »kulturübergreifende Klangreise« bezeichnen. Weniger psychedelisch, dafür vielmehr bewahrend gibt man sich auf einer Direct-Disc-Session für das Label Night Dreamer, dort hat man die »traditionellen Klänge Anatoliens in die Gegenwart« gerettet. Gute Sache. Live sowieso. Am 22. Oktober sollte man sich das im Gretchen geben.
