Raw and immediate
Jimi Tenor is one of those musicians who does not think of time in linear terms. His concerts move simultaneously between the past and the future, without losing sight of the present. As a pioneer between jazz, Afrobeat, electronica and spiritual jazz, Jimi Tenor blends different decades together and creates an open, stylistically permeable form of live music.
The current band formed during the pandemic in Helsinki and has since played numerous concerts and festivals. Accordingly, Selenites, Selenites! feels less like a classic studio album and more like a condensed stage moment: raw, collectively conceived and strongly focused on interaction. In a live setting, this music gains body and space without losing its openness.
