First they played at weddings. Then the band, which has been around since 2009, was considered India’s best-kept secret in psychedelic rock for a long time. But for a few years now, the quieter times around Peter Cat Recording Co. have been over. The quintet from Delhi is one of the rock bands of the moment. Their sound is compared to Aztec Camera or The Monochrome Set, they themselves throw in The Velvet Underground or Neutral Milk Hotel. In addition, there are echoes of Gypsy, Disco and Bossa Nova. A colourful mixture that often leads live to sprawling, freaky grooving jams.

Freaky groovy jams

This year Peter Cat Recording Co. are going on a massive tour. They start these days in North America, where they will play for the first time ever, and end in Germany, where they will perform at Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld in Cologne on November 29, 2023, and at Gretchen in Berlin on November 30, 2023. Maybe they will even have a new album in their hands then, because as they revealed in an interview with Variety magazine early in May, a new album is to be released within 365 days.
