Who Are You

Beats In Space • 2018

The answer to the question of who you really are doesn’t always have to be traumatic. With Eddie Ruscha alias [E Ruscha V](http://www.hhv-mag.com/en/glossaryentry/5540,) the son of an artist named Ed Ruscha, the search for his own identity sounds somewhat deeply relaxed. Unexcited plucked guitars, soft dabbing synthesizers, gentle dub-blowing in the production, Tropicalia inlays in one way or another. In general, the self-exploration on this album is very much about the melody. Five years ago, Ruscha demonstrated that he can express himself differently with his main project Secret Circuit and the album »Tactile Galactics«, a collection of kraut-clustered house; less melodic, but necessarily with a more dominant beat. Now the percussion is in the background, what accentuates the casually flowing events. An energetic ego-trip is different, but it doesn’t have to be. Eddie Ruscha has the harmonies and tones on his side. And the cosmos seems to be quite sympathetic to him anyway. You can spend a bit of time with someone like that, in this case a very good half an hour.
