Today you don’t wonder about anything anymore: Jürgen Klinsmann says goodbye to Hertha after a short time, the German liberal party (FDP) really flies out of the Hamburg senate and you don’t need singles anymore to release your first album. This is what happened with Houschyar. Until now there were only three songs to listen to: One on the sampler »Elsewhere LVI«, curated by DJ soFa. One on the latest record of the Berlin label Rio (by Menqui and Benedikt Frey). The first one, however, found its way onto »Danzas Electricas Vol.2« on Macadam Mambo. The label curated by Sacha Mambo also released »Temmuz«. »Temmuz« is Turkish and means »July«. In July the Carsten Nicolai student Houschyar moved to Istanbul, where the album was recorded. But what makes »Temmuz« so spectacular? On his debut, Houschyar manages to pick up the developments of the last years, to throw them in, chew them through and spit them out. The result is a breathtakingly good mix of Kraut influences, analog synth jams, (New) Wave, psychedelics and Moog exotica. With this he himself summarizes the vibe of the three compilations that paved the way for this seven-tracker. In addition, he adds the “oriental” influences of his temporary home. »Escape« is 403 seconds of wildest descent, whipped through from the bass line, over minutes with ever changing drum settings. That sounds excellent, because everything has its place, even the production (mixing and mastering) is top-notch. “Faunus” drives neatly, pushes as it were punky and is both peak-time-smasher and relaxed home listening pleasure. These »trancey« counterpoints: BOY, what’s happening?! After the tenth time »iguana« sounds like Transylvanian relatives, inviting you to slurp blood together and at the same time draw in a line from the fruit taxi. Sounds cold, but it’s not. »Temmuz« is quite warm from the first second, really muggy, hazy, intoxicating, a cosy blanket and milk with honey.
