Ill Bill & Vinnie Paz

Heavy Metal Kings

Enemy Soil • 2011

Those familiar with Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz know what to expect: dismal, brute and energetic raps, combined with beats hardly to be surpassed in terms of roughness and power. Simply stated: Non Phixion meets Jedi Mind Tricks. Now, the two of them have united for a compete album which is named after an already existent collabro-track by the twosome: Heavy Metal Kings. If one uses the said track as a benchmark, it’s not surprising that the album follows the same route as the track and wants to leave nothing behind but burnt soil. To the record’s biggest part, they manage to actually fulfill this goal, and with Keeper Of The Seven Keys, the album starts out with a loud enough bang. Also, Children Of God, produced by Ill Bill, convinces to the fullest extant and will most probably be worth an extraction as a single. Another track falling straight into the category »typical for Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz« is Terror Network. All in all, the whole record is as unapologetic and dark as anticipated and fulfills pretty much every expectation one could have had. Everyone who’s always liked Non Phixion’s or Jedi Mind Tricks’ sounds will definitely like this album just as much and will get their chance for a proper party. Everyone else should at least have a listen – it could be infectious, after all.
