Sa Pa

Girls On Tour EP

Dub Techno For Life • 2026

Sa Pa approaches club music from the margins. The debut album 風物詩, released in 2015 on Giegling sublabel Forum, already favoured resistance over danceability, beginning with the title itself, which confidently assumed knowledge of Japanese before one could even read it as Fuubutsushi. With his own label Dub Techno For Life, however, Sa Pa now takes dancing somewhat more seriously.

For its first EP, Sa Pa first takes on Mokira’s track »Manipulation Musik«, shaping it into his »Mokira Ultra Dub«. Reduction is very much the defining principle of Sa Pa’s contribution to dub techno here. A precisely shuffling beat, which never pounds, hisses or clacks too obtrusively, develops its pull through the washed-out ghost sounds in the background, which Sa Pa arranges into an equally exacting weave. Nine minutes of controlled ecstasy. »Waiting for You« follows a similar rhythmic framework, but this time even allows itself something like the hint of a melody. »Modular System« sends distant greetings to the minimalist dub techno of Basic Channel, while »World Saving Banger« closes with a little rumbling disorder, realigning the senses. A label debut without objections.
