Jump Source

Fold

Naff • 2026

Patrick Holland (f.k.a. Project Pablo) and Francis Latreille (a.k.a. Priori) first teamed up as Jump Source in 2016 for the »Guide to Action« EP. Their breakbeat-inspired house came with warm pads, simple melodies, and the occasional throwback to bygone eras – it was not too dissimilar from what fellow Vancouverites Pender Street Steppers were doing at the same time. A lot has happened since then. Across a slew of EPs released mostly through their own imprint, the duo further diversified its sound with the help of guest vocalists.

Jump Source’s debut album Fold also features a number of vocalists who add their individual touches to seven of the eleven pieces – Helena Deland sings on »Shattered« and the title track, billy woods raps on »Empty Bars«, and POiSON GiRL FRiEND indulges in half-whispered wordplay on »Close«. Holland and Latreille accommodate these vocalists with a varied set of tunes that pay homage to 1990s downbeat and trip-hop or 2000s folktronica, but do not shy away from offering a few chugging house bangers.

This makes Fold a, well, bold album. That does not mean it sounds any less friendly and breezy than their earlier releases – in fact, with »Affect«, it includes a rather obvious throwback to the duo’s early days – but it underlines how far Jump Source have come over the past decade: comparisons to other projects no longer come easily.
