Yulun moves through the space between house and techno – subtle, hovering, yet clearly directed towards the dancefloor. It is precisely in this permeability that the strength of Sam Goku’s three tracks resides, defining club music not through pressure but through atmosphere and movement. That he is now releasing on Marie Montexier’s label Paryìa feels like a fitting continuation of this aesthetic.
The Munich-based DJ and producer sketches out a sound suspended in mid-air, yet carried by a stable pulse. Haze and reverb envelop the structures, while melodic fragments and percussive details unfold slowly. The tracks remain danceable without overloading the compositions.
This is especially evident in the percussion-rich title track, sustained by recurring bell impulses while layer after layer accumulates in the background. Occasional piano tones offer orientation within the blurred textures. »Irises« and »Fluo« lean more heavily on driving drums and warm melodic lines. In these carefully structured layers and hypnotic repetitions, one hears that subtle need not mean harmless – it can generate its own form of intensity.
