Tech house is a subgenre of electronic dance music that combines elements of house and techno. It originated in the 1990s and is characterized by reduced melodies, dry basslines, minimal harmonies and subtle percussion. The sound is functionally designed for clubs and is often characterized by a clear, rhythm-centered structure. Important representatives are Nathan Coles and Terry Francis, but also acts that became popular later, such as Green Velvet and Nic Fanciulli.
