Marie Montexier’s label Paryìa was founded to support emerging producers with the greatest possible freedom. For its fifth anniversary, she brings together its stylistic range on a compilation. With contributions from Cinthie, Fireground, Toobris, DJ Babatr, DJ Maria, Isabel Soto, Nesa Azadikhah and Zombies in Miami, she builds a wonderful bridge between warm deep-house grooves, straight-ahead techno sequences and rhythmically accented breaks. This position between a club-oriented approach and musical openness brings with it a diverse span.
One of the highlights is certainly Cinthie’s track »Can’t Get Enough«, which opens with a warm bassline and immediately radiates happiness. Zombies in Miami, too, appear in summery good spirits on »Body Language«. The more technoid arrangements by DJ Maria, Isabel Soto and Fireground do not form an opposing block, but expand the flow of the compilation with acid, mystical textures and hardgroove precision.
5 Years Paryìa is, in the end, a proud snapshot of the label – a skilful interplay between emerging artists and veterans. Diversity appears here not as an end in itself, but as a form of cohesion. The compilation brims with Marie Montexier’s avowed passion for the music and for the scene.
