Healing is a word that seems to be everywhereat the moment. There simply is far too much that needs healing or should be healed. The title track »Music Is the Healing Force of the Universe« on the fourth singles compilation from the Gothenburg label Höga Nord Rekords therefore comes at just the right time. If you want to know what the Swedes released between 2019 and 2021, you can find it all here, chronologically arranged in one package. With their decidedly eclectic selection, the operators live up to the image they have of themselves of expanding the senses of the public with their offering. Acid-heavy Drum and bass from Global Tracks is followed by psychedelic, trippy funk from Gothenburg’s Kanot. Electro by Tecwaa from York meets the EBM New Wave hybrid from the Berlin project Dame Bonnet. Large portions of the rest of the programme alternate between edgy machine music and more or less rumbling handiwork, some, like the sounds from Londoner Timothy J. Fairplay, combine both in personal union. This provides a nice overview of some of the more remote new developments in club music. Moreover, we are quite certain that an algorithm would not make this selection.
