Zack Zack Zack

Album 2

Trost • 2023

Black, blacker, the blackest: Just in time for the world’s biggest gothic festival in Leipzig, Zack Zack Zack from Vienna breathe fresh air into the dark scene with the release of their »Album 2«. How conscious this decision was remains to be seen. What is certain is that the Viennese duo Yigit Bakkalbasi and Cemgil Demirtas, who hail from Izmir, are happy to launch themselves across genres into the Orcus with »Deutsche Bahn«. At the same time, the trilingual lyrics add the necessary element of creepiness, even without being fully comprehensible. Behind it, the synths surf the pitch-black waves, turning the sound into a danceable Walpurgis Night. After the success of »Album 1«, Bakkalbasi and Demirtas are taking a big step for the Viennese scene with their follow-up album. Because between current dark wave grandmasters like the American duo Boy Harsher and Turkish frontmen She Past Away, Zack Zack Zack can just as easily bewitch the bleakness with their dark industrial vibe: with »Album 2« the »Austrian product« shines directly into the dark club night and comforts sadness with wine. If that’s not enough gloomy fun for you, buy a balloon!
