Versatility is not everything. Munich-born DJ, producer, tutor, musician and designer Polygonia may dance at a lot of weddings, but at heart she has a rigorous, uncompromising artistic vision.
Her sound contains elements of techno and psychedelic – and the closeness to nature comes without esoteric overload. In Lindsey Wang’s work, the organic triumphs over the artificial; consistency beats fashion.
Her sound has become increasingly popular in recent years and can be seen as a counterpoint to the flashy fashions of the fun dictatorship, such as trance and gabber. Polygonia’s sets rave not only on the dancefloor, but also in your head. This can be heard on the EP »Da Nao Tian Gong«, released last year on deep techno and bass label Midgar, or her collaboration with Rrose, »Dermatology«.

As a DJ, Polygonia plays at Berghain or her favourite club, Munich’s Blitz, and on the label QEONE, which she co-founded, she brings the sonic dimensions of wood to club music with Kangding Ray and others. However, it would be an injustice to reduce her to the most successful part of her artistic activities. Always on the lookout for new possibilities, she recombines set pieces from genres such as jazz, classical or dubstep to create something new that suits her.Because that’s what it’s all about: being true to yourself.
