The Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band is coming to Hamburg’s Knust on February 3, 2023 to play a full live show for the first time. In addition to the German Steel Pan group, Retrogott has been announced, with bags full of exquisite funk music, and will heat up the former slaughterhouse together with DJ Profile, Knoppers, Max Gyver as well as Zwegatmann. The evening runs under the title Supersonic Crust.

Virtuosos on the Steel Pan

The Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, those funky tin drummers around Björn Wagner, Ben Greenslade-Stanton, Paul Elliott and Tim Ertl, have been releasing their idiosyncratic interpretations of funk, soul and rap classics since 2007. Their first single, still released on their own label Mocambo Records, featured two cover songs by the legendary American funk band The Meters. Meanwhile, they are part of Big Crown, the label of Leon Michels and Danny Akalepse. However, the funky tin drummers have never given a full-length concert. That’s changing now and you shouldn’t miss it.
