The renowned Swiss label Les Disques Bongo Joe is marking a milestone with an anniversary showcase on 7 October 2025 at Berlin’s Gretchen club. With one DJ and three live acts, the night promises a full-spectrum display of the label’s eclectic, border-pushing output – from transgressive dance dynamics to avant-rock eruptions and tropically infused transfeminist performance.

Jamaican trans artist Lateena joins forces with Guatemalan producer Bony Fly to deliver a fearless fusion of dancehall, shatta, reggaeton and bouyon – a bold celebration of personal emancipation on global dancefloors.

Tropical madness

Hailing from the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Blanco Teta collapse boundaries with their frenetic blend of avant-garde rock, dance and pop-punk. Their politically charged noise-pop offers a radical sonic counterstatement to genre orthodoxy.

Closing the night is Chupame El Dedo, a project originally commissioned in 2013 by Berlin’s Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Mashing death metal with tropical rhythms and hyperspeed drumming, their sound conjures a surreal kaleidoscope of what they call «tropical madness» – a sonic hall of mirrors in its most uncompromising form.

Bongo Joe im HHV Store

On October 8, 2025, the celebration will continue in our HHV Store at Grünberger Str. 54 in Berlin-Friedrichshain. Vinyl records will be played by Ali Güçlü Şimşek (Lalalar) and Cyril Yeterian, Derya Yıldırım will perform a short solo live set, and drinks will be served.
