Romare brings what feels like every Sound in the World to his Concert in Berlin

06.02.2024

More than ten years have passed since Romare showed the world two things. Firstly: sampling ain’t dead. And secondly: you can go into something with your head screwed on straight and still come out dancing. Just like many happy visitors will do on September 17, 2024, hopefully when Romare graces Berlin’s Gretchen.

Everything in it and still grooving

Archie Fairhurst got his alias from the African-American cut-up artist Romare Bearden. The collage: for the academic, the means to combine all his musical knowledge with the infinite possibilities of electronic music production. All his albums and performances make use of an endless treasure trove of source material from all over the globe. But you don’t need to bring a notepad. The end result is footwork. House. Hip-hop. Jazz.

The concert evening will also feature Maria Chiara Argirò. The Italian-born pianist has been living in London for a long time and is part of the lively jazz scene there. She has collaborated with These New Puritans, Jono McCleery, Jamie Leeming and counts Kieran Hebden and Gilles Peterson among her admirers. So an evening at Gretchen doesn’t get much more perfect than this.

The concert has been postponed from March 20 to September 17, 2024. Tickets remain valid or can be returned where they were purchased.
