Rymden will play a concert at Berlin’s Gretchen on March 12, 2024. The Scandinavian band featuring former members of the influential Esbjörn Svensson Trio and jazz pianist Bugge Wesseltoft describes itself as a »supergroup« – not just of jazz, but of European music in general. »I can also take friends to their concert who have nothing to do with jazz,« said song jazzer Jamie Cullum about Rymden. »Not because they’re not very experimental, but because their approach is full of contemporary ideas.«
Fusion jazz with electronic sound design
In 2023, Rymden released their third studio album »Valleys and Mountains«. It spans a simple arc between fusion jazz, chamber music and electronic sound design. The band emerged from the 2014 production »Trialogue«, which pianist Bugge Wesseltoft recorded with Dan Berglund and Henrik Schwarz. Magnus Öström, another member of the former Esbjörn Svensson Trio, has since joined the group.
