Jagari, today last man standing, formerly first man for the stage dive. Named after Mick Jagger. The influences of Jagger’s Stones and Black Sabbath, but also James Brown, flowed into WITCH’s Zambian rock. The era of the latter ended abruptly with recession and totalitarian politics. And HIV. Emanyeo »Jagari« Chanda is the only member who did not die as a result of the virus. The fact that WITCH is playing concerts again is probably mainly thanks to Egon. He re-released the band’s old works via his Now-Again label and thus brought them (back) into the public consciousness. In 2017, with a new line-up, they went on tour. Now WITCH are back again.
