Multi-instrumentalist Derya Yıldırım will perform with her band Grup Şimşek at Berlin’s Gretchen on 24 and 25 November 2025, presenting her latest album Yarın Yoksa. The record fuses Anatolian tradition with contemporary psychedelic funk and groove — music that sounds both deeply rooted and open to the world.
For Derya, Yarın Yoksa is the voice »of the people, the minorities and the oppressed«. Created in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Leon Michels, the album shifts fluidly between the familiar and the experimental, asking: What if there were no tomorrow?

Music without borders
Yarın Yoksa includes original compositions alongside three traditional folk songs. Derya Yıldırım lends her family’s musical heritage a contemporary voice, infusing the songs with psychedelic colour and hypnotic vocals. She plays bağlama, piano, oud, guitar and saxophone — elements woven into a universal sonic tapestry. Since 2014, she has performed with Graham Mushnik (keyboards) and Antonin Voyant (guitar, flute); in 2021, Helen Wells joined on drums. The band describes their sound as Outernational — a borderless music that reveals its full power live.
