Everything Perfect Is Already Here

Shelter Press • 2022

On »Everything Perfect Is Already Here«, Claire Rousay continues to perfect her collage of field recordings, object sounds and vocals as she has been doing for three or four years now. The record is released by Shelter Press, the label from Bartolomé Sanson and Félicia Atkinsons. This time the music is contrasted by melodic set pieces on piano and violin, giving it a touch of melancholy. Claire Rousay, who grew up and still lives in San Antonio (Texas), constantly reveals something about herself with her music. She lets the listener get right up close to her. As if you were standing right next to her on a creaky floorboard. She wants to share herself with us. On »It Feels Foolish to Care«, the first of the two fifteen-minute pieces, it becomes clear that she can only do this through music. She begins verbally. Her voice says »ehm«, pauses, starts again: »I think, ehm«, breaks off, »my, ehm«, breaks off. Violins start. It’s all about the music. You want to take her in your arms. Because: »Everything Perfect Is Already Here«.
