Since 2016, the Dutch label BAKK has been releasing its Plafond series, in which musicians such as Ulla Strauss or Rupert Clervaux could be discovered. It all started with »Plafond 1« with Legowelt and SFV Acid, who shared the rills with Haron. This Haron now reappears on »Plafond 6«, this time together with Cucina Povera. You can listen to a more than 20-minute-long audio piece, “Riffittelyä”, which has been split into three digestible parts, claims the A-side and is composed by both together. The whole thing sounds like spunky Finnish folk, as it can be found on Fonal, in which the dilettantish gets the habitus of the cathedral. I find myself oscillating heavily between sympathy and dislike. On the B-side is a piece by Cucina Povera and another one by Haron. The Glasgow-based Finn with the Bulgarian-sounding stage name enters the realm of sound studies with »Maandag, Spiegeldag«. It is almost a mediation and also an unusual piece for Cucina Povera. But definitely worth hearing. With »Ajatus«, Haron again follows more on the A-side. The chant, which reminds of monks, even exaggerates the clerical painting of the A-side and, Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem, I expect the sound of someone hitting his head with the Bible all the time.
